I finished reading Michael Crichton's "Sphere" today at lunch. If you have seen the movie, I am sure there is a lot whcih is similar between the two. Unfortunately, I can not comment on the movie. Although I am sure I have seen the movie, it is not a memorable one to me. Which, I think, sums up the book quite a bit. The plot is simple enough to understand. There is something deep in the ocean -- about 1,000 feet down -- which the U.S. Navy wants a team of scientists to explore. The team goes down, finds a spacecraft, and on-board this craft they find a large metal sphere. The rest of the book explains the events which happen to the scientists and Navy personell in the next few days. I will not ruin the story by giving too many details. I was somewhat disappointed in this book. It's a good read; don't get me wrong. But the story seemed to move slowly in some areas, and focus so much on Norman's thoughts that I got bored in some parts of the story. The last few chapters are the best,... Read More »

I remember reading in the Bible where a person prays to God for patience. For one reason or another, this person needs to be more patient. Well, I've got two big reasons ... Jusytn and Carter. And they are driving me crazy! First, I spend one full week home with them after Hailey is born. I love my boys, but that is too many days to be cooped up inside with them. The weather was bad so we could not play outside or even take many trips / errands. Now, they have decided to fight, argue, copy one another, and basically do anything they can to make noise. I know, I know. "That's what kids do." But it's annoying as anything right now and I have had enough. In some ways, that doesn't seem too "fatherly" to me. I feel like a bit of a failure and I want to attribute that to the adjustments being made to make our family get used to having five members.
